Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Kendram is a residential school blessed by Bhagawan, located in Chokkady village, Sullya taluk, Mangalore district in Karnataka state. It was initiated by Bhagawan through the SSSIHL alumni brother Lakshmi Narayan Kote in the year 1988, consisting of a school campus from Classes 1 to 10th and residential hostels. Swami had personally visited the village in the year 1979.
As part of Bhagawan’s birthday celebrations, 90 akshay paatras were distributed to schedule tribe/ schedule caste colony residents of Chokkady village. Each akshay patra consisted of a stainless-steel vessel with lid filled with one and half kg double boiled rice. It was offered to Bhagawan and distributed as prasadam.
It was organised by the members of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Kendram (consisting of six alumni brothers and their families) along with members of Sai Seva Samithi, Chokkady. The alumni brothers involved Lakshmi Narayan Kote, Sai Prasad, Gunashekhar Bhat, Sai Santhosh, Mahabaleshwar, and Suryanarayana.
