Commemorating Swami’s 95th birthday celebrations, Tamilnadu Alumni of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning distributed free blankets to poor (Narayanas) across Chennai, since it is winter across India. Tamilnadu Sri Sathya Sai Organisation (TNSSSO) does blanket distribution as part of Swami’s Birthday celebration every year. TN Alumni joined hands along with TNSSSO to distribute blankets to Narayanas sleeping on the road.
TNSSSO procured blankets bulk from one vendor and sent across the State distribution. TN Alumni joined other devotees in contributing donations to TN State Trust to facilitate such service activities.
25 alumni brothers joined hands and distributed 300 blankets during COVID. Seven teams were formed consisting of three to four brothers per team.
Areas were identified where many Narayana’s typically sleep on the roads. Areas covered were across Chennai starting from North Chennai down to South Chennai.
Seva started on 22nd November night – post 10 p.m. Intent is to ensure the distribution is to the needy Narayanas sleeping on the road. Alumni travelled by car across streets, identified people sleeping on sidewalks, lovingly covered them with blanket, along with a photo of Swami next to them and left without disturbing. Each alumni group typically cover around 10kms to distribute blankets.
Distribution was completed within 2.5 hours by Nov 23rd early morning 12.30 a.m.
