Dignitary Padma Vibhushan Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Chairman of National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) and Former Chairman, ISRO visited Sai Krushna Vidya Mandir (SKVM) school on 2nd December, 2021.
SKVM is 100 percent free rural school, located at Hosadoddi Village, Bengaluru run by Sai Krushna Charitable Trust (SKCT) headed by SSSIHL alumni.
The students displayed their exhibits on Science, Educare, Medicare, and Sociocare. He interacted with students on their family background, goals, on aspects like how the school supported them towards the same and on additional activities like music, bhajans, Vedam, reading and gardening, besides the traditional curricula undertaken at SKVM. He was delighted to know that some students were winning prizes at State/ National level and encouraged them to participate in more competitions like NTSE etc. The students had also briefed him on their visit to ISRO, Bylalu campus in 2017 (thanks to Dr Rangarajan from ISRO – school management committee member) and was glad to know that this visit had created a lasting impression in their curious minds.
Students also gave him a brief history of the school, and how volunteer involvement was enabling them to learn much better.
He also appreciated multiple volunteer driven projects such as Virtual mentoring, Teacher pal, Peer to peer learning, educational videos during Covid, migrant seva and life saving Helpline + oxygen concentrators seva during Covid.
SKVM will also continue to work closely as a pilot school in NEP implementation.
