One night when I was in my 2nd standard at the primary school, I was running a high fever. I had to go to the general hospital, but I could barely stand. Without any thought, Munny aunty, the headmistress of the school, picked me up and carried me all the way to the hospital. Where in the world will you find a headmistress of the school doing such an act!
Swami surrounded us with such pure souls. This, in the longer run, shaped our personalities.
The various activities – from Grama Seva to Ganesh chaturthi, from Sports Meet to Cultural Meet and other extracurricular pursuits, brought out the best in us. Working together came naturally to us. We just had one purpose – to see a smile on Swami’s face.
The world came to him. He gave us that place which many people couldn’t even dream of. He said “My students are my property”.
Many ask this question what’s so different about your institution.
During the 2015 combined sports meet, as a part of the gymnastics team, I was doing a somersault over two cars. During a practice session, I injured my back and was diagnosed with a minor slip disk. The very first thought that came to my mind was, “Swami how will I be able to become a fighter pilot?”
I had asked for swami’s approval on joining the IAF in my 8th standard. I was also worried about not being able to perform on the final day of the Sports Meet. I was bedridden. During that time, I was so angry with Swami that I used to keep asking Him “Swami, what good is there in this slip disk? How can I take this in a positive manner?”.
I used to cry on my wheelchair because I was unable to go to the practice sessions. This happened on 21st of Dec 2017, hardly 3 weeks for the final day and there I was in such a situation. My anger only grew.
The doctors in the super-speciality hospital did not allow me to get back to my practice sessions. In fact, they were insisting on six months of physiotherapy. There will be no games or any stressful physical activities during the time.
On December 31st, I prayed to Swami fervently and went to sleep. The next day, I went to the hospital. To my utter surprise, the very same doctor who had prescribed six-month rest and physiotherapy told me: “Swami is there with you, son. Take his vibhuti. Swami is with you.”
I went back to my practice and took off on the trampoline.
When people ask me what is different about my institution, and what it gave me, this is what I say: Self-belief.
Swami drilled the belief into us that if you want something, you’ll achieve it. There’s nothing impossible for His children. This attitude is important in the field I am in currently, as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force.
Swami has so beautifully shaped all of us. Everything is clear when I look back. The primary school gave us the love and strictness of a mother. The higher secondary school gave us fatherly love. Brindavan, the cherry on the cake, made us discover the connection to Swami within.
S Grade 1 to B.Sc Physics in Bhagawan’s institutions at Prasanthi Nilayam and Brindavan, 2002 – 2017. Currently a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. He is unnamed as per armed forces guidelines.
